In Tongits, the goal is to be the player with the lowest total card value when the round ends — whether by declaring Tongits, winning a Sapaw challenge, or having the lowest points when the deck runs out.
Discard all cards in hand and declare Tongits. Highest-ranking win — immediately ends the round and collects the pot.
Challenge by calling Burn when a player declares. If your hand has zero loose cards, you win. Requires precise hand management throughout the round.
Successfully meld cards onto an opponent's laid-down set, reducing your hand value while adding to their exposed groupings.
When the draw pile runs out, the player with the lowest total card value in hand wins. Face cards count as 10 each; Ace counts as 1.
Three cards of the same rank, any suits. Can be laid on the table to reduce hand value. Additional matching cards can be added later.
Three or more consecutive cards of the same suit. A powerful meld that clears multiple high-value cards from your hand at once.
All four cards of the same rank. Rare but powerful — clears four cards in one move and can significantly change the score balance.
Aces count as 1 point. Number cards count at face value. All face cards (10, J, Q, K) count as 10 points each toward your hand total.
Whether you are a returning player or brand new to Tongits, this breakdown covers everything you need to know before sitting down at a WildAce table.
You cannot control which cards you are dealt, but you can absolutely control how you play them. Here are tips from experienced WildAce Tongits players.
Track what opponents are throwing away. If they keep discarding a certain suit, they are likely not building a sequence in that suit — meaning those cards are safer for you to hold.
Laying down melds as soon as they form removes high-value cards from your hand total. An early meld also unlocks your ability to call Fight — a key defensive tool in Tongits.
If an opponent calls Fight late in the game, their hand is likely clean. Make sure your unmelded cards total is low before taking that risk — especially at high-stakes WildAce tables.
Face cards (J, Q, K, 10) each count for 10 points. If you cannot meld them quickly, discard them early. Holding multiple face cards in hand when a Fight is called can be costly.
Adding cards to an opponent's meld (Sapaw) reduces your own hand value — but it also expands their exposed melds. Only sapaw when the card you add is worth more to eliminate than to keep.
Keep an eye on how many cards remain in the draw pile. If it is getting thin and you have a low hand total, consider stalling rather than rushing to call Tongits — you may win on points when it runs out.

Ask any Filipino what card game they associate most with home, and there is a very good chance the answer is Tongits. This three-player game has been a staple of Philippine household entertainment for generations — played on wooden tables during family reunions, in dormitory rooms between college students, and in neighbourhood gatherings where everyone puts a small amount of money on the line just to make things interesting. WildAce brings that exact spirit to the internet, letting players from all over the Philippines sit at the same virtual table and play the game they have always loved.
Tongits is believed to have originated in the Ilocos region in northern Luzon and spread throughout the country over the latter half of the 20th century. Its name likely comes from the Ilocano word for "alone" — reflecting the game's goal of emptying your hand before anyone else. The mechanics draw influence from Rummy-style games brought by various cultural contacts over the centuries, but the resulting game is distinctly Filipino in character: fast, social, and deeply competitive.
Today, Tongits is played in every region of the Philippines, from Batanes in the north to Tawi-Tawi in the south. Online versions have grown rapidly in popularity over the past few years, with platforms like WildAce making it possible to play against real opponents without needing three people in the same physical location. For Overseas Filipino Workers and Filipinos living far from home, online Tongits at WildAce has become a genuine connection to their culture.
There are a handful of platforms where you can play Tongits online in the Philippines, but WildAce stands apart in several important ways. First and most importantly, WildAce operates under a PAGCOR license — which means every game on the platform is regulated, the RNG systems are certified as fair, and your funds are protected by a licensed operator. Playing on an unlicensed platform carries real financial risk; at WildAce, you know the game is clean.
Second, WildAce has invested heavily in making the Tongits interface feel natural for Filipino players. The card graphics, the sound effects, the game flow — everything is designed to replicate the feel of a real Tongits game rather than a generic international card game that has been relabeled. When you play Tongits at WildAce, it actually feels like Tongits.
Third, the player base at WildAce is large and active. There are always opponents available across all table types, from the beginner rooms to the high-stakes tables. You will never sit at an empty table waiting for opponents to join — at WildAce, the action is constant, around the clock.
One of the features that sets WildAce apart from simpler Tongits apps is the weekly tournament structure. Every Saturday, WildAce hosts a 128-player Tongits tournament with a guaranteed prize pool of ₱100,000. The buy-in is ₱500 — affordable enough that any regular player can participate, but the prize structure is serious enough to make it genuinely exciting.
The tournament runs as a bracket, with players advancing through rounds until a champion is crowned. First place takes home ₱50,000. Second place receives ₱30,000. Third place earns ₱15,000, and there are smaller prizes for players who reach the quarter-finals. These are real, withdrawable cash prizes — not promotional credits with wagering requirements attached.
Beyond the weekly Saturday tournament, WildAce runs special Tongits championship events tied to major Philippine occasions — the PBA Finals season, Independence Day, the Ber Months Christmas calendar, and the 13th Month Pay period in November. These events feature larger prize pools and draw the most competitive players on the platform.
Managing your WildAce balance for Tongits play is simple and fast. The minimum deposit is ₱50 — low enough that anyone can start without a large upfront commitment. Deposits are processed instantly via GCash, Maya, GrabPay, Coins.ph, and all major Philippine banks through InstaPay and PESONet. Visa and Mastercard are also accepted.
Withdrawals from Tongits winnings are equally straightforward. Cash out requests are processed in under three minutes to GCash and Maya. Bank transfers to BDO, BPI, and UnionBank typically complete within one business hour. WildAce does not charge withdrawal fees — the amount you request is the amount that lands in your account.
Tongits is a game of skill and chance, and the competitive nature of the game can sometimes make it easy to lose track of time and money. WildAce strongly encourages all players to set clear limits before each session. Use the deposit limit tool in your account settings to cap your daily or weekly spending. The session timer on each table shows exactly how long you have been playing — it is a small feature that makes a real difference in keeping sessions reasonable.
If you find yourself chasing losses or feeling anxious about your gameplay, take a break. The self-exclusion feature at WildAce can restrict your account for any period you choose, from 24 hours to permanently. Getting help is never a sign of weakness — it is a sign of smart, responsible play. Learn more at our Responsible Gaming page.
Set a session budget before you start. Use deposit limits and take regular breaks. WildAce Tongits is for players 18 and above only. Responsible Gaming.
